Lenka Morávková and the Bohemian Cristal Instrument

Get up close and personal with the Bohemian Cristal Instrument, a mysterious cross between a musical instrument and a glass sound sculpture, wielded with finesse by Czech artist Lenka Morávková. At this special event presented by Atlas Obscura in Hotel Figueroa’s Tangier Room, Morávková will talk about and then demonstrate the instrument’s otherworldly hypnotic powers. Designed by the artist based on the Cristal Baschet, an experimental instrument invented in 1952, Morávková manipulates and processes the BCI’s sounds in real time to create beautiful, transcendent, ambient music.
