Linda Aronow: A Punk Rock Primer
Gallery 30 South

Everybody’s favorite goth shopkeeper from the ’80s and ’90s, Linda Aronow was the manager of WACKO on Melrose Ave during its heyday, outfitting all the kids with Doc Martens and Manic Panic hair dye. During the intersection of punk, new wave, post-punk and alternative rock, Aronow captured L.A.’s thriving underground scene with her camera, including seminal performances by Minor Threat, Black Flag, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice Bag, GBH, Chelsea, T.S.O.L., Christian Death, The Damned and more.
This will be the official unveiling of Aronow’s first exhibit, 40 years after snapping the shots with her Canon AE1. The images were developed in a darkroom personally by the photographer and are worth seeing up close and personal in all their sweaty, bloody glory.
Reception: Sunday 3-6 p.m. / Exhibiting April 1–28, 2019 / More Information
